The last week in July the Madera FFA Officer Team spent time together to develop their leadership skills, bond and plan out the year for our chapter. The student-planned retreat started out at the Ag department for a officer work day. While getting to know each other the team developed goals for the year and chose the chapter theme. After long discussions they decided on: Strive to Inspire. The theme is used throughout the year to get members involved and push them to achieve new and exciting things.
The next day the team and advisers traveled to Paso Robles to continue their work and see a new part of California. The next three days the officers developed plans for the chapter including fundraisers, FFA meetings, events and activities
They also had the opportunity to explore the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo areas. They were treated to a great performance by the Great American Melodrama and were able to spend some time at Avila Beach, (some saw the beach for the first time!). One of the highlights of the trip was being able to experience the SLO Farmers Market in downtown San Luis Obispo. The officers participated in a scavenger hunt that allowed them to talk with local growers and learn about the areas agriculture industry.
All in all the officers had a great retreat. They were able to experience many new things and worked hard to develop a year the members will never forget!
