This months aggie of the month goes to ..... Johnathan Spraggins!!! He is a Freshman in our chapter. He showed pigs at the Madera Fair, winning FFA Champion AOB Market jog. He’s participated in Ag literacy day. He is enrolled in Ag mechanics and ag leadership. He is serving as this year’s Greenhand President!We can’t wait to see how you will #bethechange!!
Cavallero Named National Finalist
INDIANAPOLIS-Today, the National FFA Organization selected 16 students from throughout the United States as finalists for its 2017 top achievement awards: American Star Farmer, American Star in Agribusiness, American Star in Agricultural Placement and American Star in Agriscience. The American Star Awards represents the best of the best among thousands of American FFA Degree recipients. The award recognizes FFA members who have developed outstanding agricultural skills and competencies through the completion of a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program.
California State Fair
Sacramento- This year our chapter had four members exhibit their animals at the California State Fair in Sacramento. The State Fair runs for two weeks in July with 4-h clubs and FFA chapters from all over the state bringing their best animals and projects to be shown.
Deniz Named Fresno County CTE Teacher of the Year
Fresno, Ca- Mr. Tim Deniz was named the Fresno County ROP/CTE Teacher of the year. Mr. Deniz has taught in the Madera agriculture department for 15 years, teaching welding and fabrication. During his 15 years he has inspired many students to develop their passion in the fabrication pathway. Many have gone on to become prominent figures in the fabrication community in Madera and across the state. The Madera Unified School District is proud to have such an influential teacher in their schools.
SAE of the Month
This month’s SAE of the Month goes to Miguel Espinoza!!!
He is in Mr.Withers’ 1 and 2 period ROP Ag power class. His SAE project is production agriculture, in which he has worked with everything from blueberries, grapes, tomatoes, vine pruning, tangerines, oranges, asparagus, onions and poultry. He is a senior and will be receiving his FFA State Degree this year. Congratulations on all your hard work and we can’t wait to see how you’ll #bethechange
